Welcome to Visual Arts!
My name is Mrs. Alnissan and I teach General Art Classes to 7th and 8th grade students.
Overview of the Course: The basis of the Visual Arts Class is to provide an opportunity for students to achieve arts literacy and develop technical artistic skills. All visual art courses will incorporate the California Visual Arts Content Standards and the new Anchor Standards. Students will be involved in creating, presenting, responding and making connections to their artwork. Students also gain an understanding of the elements of art and the principles of design. Students will showcase their artwork and create an art portfolio with examples of their artwork, written art criticism, self-evaluations, and research. All students have the opportunity to be recommended and participate in the LAUSD Gifted and talented in the Visual Arts. The course encourages positive behavior and emphasizes the development of critical thinking and social-emotional development.
